Some points that struck me during that video:
1) Years to reach 50 Million users: Radio – 38 Years, TV – 13 years, Internet – 4 years, iPod – 3 years, Facebook – 200 million users in less than a year.
2) What happens in Vegas Stays on Facebook~Twitter~Youtube~etc.
3) While you watch this 100 hours of video will be uploaded to YouTube
So yes, that video was about marketing to consumers, however I thought the average person could glean some valuable information from that short video.
Think your kids know more than you when it comes to technology? Well, that may be so but it isn’t reason to use it as an excuse. It is time to jump in if you haven’t already and stay vigilant if you already work hard to keep your kids safe.
• Kids want to add a new electronic device? I have some tips here.
• Kids want a Facebook page? If they are old enough, help them set up the page and teach them how to change their privacy settings using the tips here.
• Kids need a refresher occasionally to remind them on how to stay safe. Why not go over a few of these over dinner or the next time you are driving in the car?
Why not ask them what their favorite website is? Ask them why they want that new gadget and what makes it so cool/better than the one they already have? Why not ask them why they like texting better than talking on the phone?
You might actually start a conversation with your teen in which they want to participate. You may learn something you didn’t already know.
I would love to hear what has worked for you. Why not leave a comment below and give me your thoughts?
Stay safe out there!
