At FOCUS 11, Safe Never Sleeps by George Kurtz

Yesterday we kicked off FOCUS 11 in Las Vegas, and we’ve got record attendance.  I’m thrilled to see so many security professionals coming together for such a valuable dialogue about the future of security.

The big news of the day is that we announced two new products built on our DeepSAFE platform.  These products will help us achieve our vision of hardware-assisted security, working very closely with Intel.

McAfee DeepSAFE is a game changer.  This technology is an entirely new way of approaching security that is important because threats are not only multiplying; they are coming from all different directions.  Hardware-assisted technology might be new to security, but it is not new to Intel.  Intel has used that approach to accelerate encryption and virtualization.  We see security following the same path.

McAfee DeepSAFE creates a thin software layer between the silicon and the operating system, allowing us to have a direct view of the system resources that malware attacks, such as memory and storage.

Today, we are introducing the first product that plugs into this new technology layer, McAfee Deep Defender.  Deep Defender is the next generation of endpoint security.  It is capable of detecting insidious kernel malware. The bad guys are getting smarter at hiding malware; however, malware can’t hide when interacting with the hardware, especially the memory of a system.  Deep Defender detects these interactions, allowing us to block an entirely new range of threats.  Deep Defender shows the power of what McAfee can do as part of the Intel family.

We are also announcing another new product today, McAfee ePO Deep Command. This product combines McAfee’s ePO console and Intel’s AMT technology into their enterprise chipsets.  It gives ePO administrators a new way to manage security and manage recovery at the endpoint.  It brings together a view that has never existed before through a single management console.  With ePO Deep Command, you can reach out to any endpoint that utilizes the AMT technology, regardless of its power state and patch it, update it, and scan it.   In addition, the remote management capabilities of ePO Deep Command allow you to power up and power down systems as required, providing customers with significant energy savings.  This is good for our customers and the environment.

That’s all for now.   Stay tuned for some other news I will be announcing next week…
