“McAfee and Intel have combined an array of technologies critical to cloud security…” Phil Hochmuth, IDC
At Interop 2011, we announced our Cloud Security Platform, a new approach to securing all content and data traffic moving to or through the Cloud. In essence, the new platform allows you to more securely and confidently take advantage of all the benefits cloud computing offers the enterprise.
One platform covers multiple security concern through highly integrated modular solutions that protect both inbound and outbound traffic moving between the enterprise and the public cloud. The platform offers web security, mobile security, cloud access control, email security, and web services security. One key feature is the Intel Expressway Service Gateway, which offloads application level API security, data transformation, REST to SOAP mediation, and identity token exchange to a high-speed gateway at the network edge or in the cloud.
Additionally, web traffic generated by smart phones and tablets can be directed through the McAfee Web Gateway using standard device management. As more mobile devices enter the enterprise, this ensures they’re secured with advanced anti-malware protection and corporate web filtering policies. The security modules can be deployed within on-premises, SaaS, hybrid infrastructures or a combination of both, providing the enterprise with flexibility and security for their headquarters, regional offices and even remote workers using mobile devices. The solutions can also be centrally managed through McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator or SaaS Control Console regardless of the deployment form.
Finally, the platform features an open API, as we’ll continue to build additional security modules. In the near-future, this could include tools that provide greater granular control over popular social media sites. We’re interested to hear your feedback – leave your thoughts in the comments and let us know which features you hope to see as our platform evolves.
