It’s always great to get in the field with sales to have discussions with customers. Actually, this is the majority of what I do these days. I love hearing what customers are thinking about, what threats concern them, how they are trying to do more with security, etc. I share with them perspectives I’ve gleaned from spending time with their peers in similar verticals or similarly sized companies throughout the US and abroad. It’s amazing how much can be learned and achieved through information exchange and how valuable these dinner briefing conversations are turing out to be for our customers.
Occasionally we get to have these meetings at awesome venues. In this particular instance in Chicago – home of so many great restaurants – we decided on RPM Italian. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, this restaurant is co-owned by Giuliana and Bill Rancic from E! Entertainment, Style Network, Donald Trump’s The Apprentice, etc. Over some “Mama DePandi” pasta we discussed the finer points of information security. I’m sold; information security just goes great with Italian comfort food.
I order to make our 5PM reservation on Monday – because everything later in the evening was already booked – I went directly to the restaurant from the airport – braving high 90-degree heat in the back of a taxi with a broken AC in horrific traffic. Even so, it was well worth it. Not only was the food incredible, and not only did we have some in-depth security optimization discussions, but we actually ran into Bill Rancic and were able to get a quick photo directly in front of RPM.
