In January, the European Union provided its approval of the Intel acquisition of McAfee – this was the last major regulatory hurdle for the acquisition – and we are on track to close the transaction later this quarter.

As I think back on the last few months, two words continue to be echoed about the acquisition: opportunity and excitement. In January, I visited partners across the US, Europe and India. Partners are readily identifying the opportunities created by the strategic combination of McAfee and Intel – their ability to grow their business by with the help of the excellence, innovation, and growth that the McAfee and Intel brands represent. As I said at the beginning of this, it’s about the Power of Three.

The acquisition represents:

1) More of McAfee: We will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intel, which means that we do not expect any changes in our day-to-day relationship other than transitioning to a 4-4-5 quarterly calendar to meet Intel’s financial close schedule. You will have the same channel account manager, the same distributor relationships, the same executive team, which means we will continue our commitment to providing a value-added, investment-based, profitable channel program.

2) Intel Know-How: The big difference you will see through the years will be in our accelerated technology innovation by combining the security expertise of McAfee with the overall hardware technology expertise of Intel. There continue to be huge opportunities in the security area, from desktop to server to network to data protection and now, mobile. Together, we can help you deliver much-needed security offerings faster and better.

3) Multiplying Your Business: You build customer solutions and understand better than anyone where your business is heading. We are here to fuel that business. Together, we can reach new market segments, address the widest range of technologies and help satisfy customer security demands in ways none of us have contemplated before.

What do you think? Please get in touch with your questions, comments or ideas. And as always, thank you for your continued partnership with McAfee.
