McAfee Avert Labs will now produce more detailed documentation on prevalent threat families. The “Combating Threats” document series is designed to arm security staff within organizations with more information concerning prevalent threat families as well as to provide additional mitigation steps that can be taken. The first two documents in this series, “W32/Virut Family” and “Finding W32/Conficker.worm,” are now available via our blog, prior to our “Combating Threats” web page going live.
UPDATE MARCH 17th
Apologies for the busted links yesterday. All seem to be resolving fine now.

can not access to security websites like pctools and http://www.pandasecurity.com/activescan/ google and yahoo works fine suspect conficker but the conficker detection tool from mcAfee is not detecting anything and neither is its scanner
Hi,
Conficker link isn’t working…
TIA
I just ried and am getting HTTP 404 errors on both links
Not there…..404 error.
The links for the Conficker and Virut are still broken. 11:26 am CDT 3-17-09
I’m curious as to why McAfee still seems to have trouble removing viruses that ComboFix, Spybot, and Malwarebytes remove with ease… These programs are free too, and don’t take 4 hours to scan…
Also with Access Protection Module you can block access to autorun.inf file, in my experience i have seen infections with conficker which infect and reinfect windows 2000 workstations after the patch has been applied, the solution was applying all patches and service packs available in windows update, rescan and reboot to clean the conficker!mem, (which always fail to clean from memory).
Good Document!
Aw, where’d these files go? I previewed the conficker one yesterdayand it looked great!
link working fine now…. thanks,
Guys,
Very interesting news. Unfortnetly both PDF links are returning HTTP 404 errors.
